The Online Paediatric CPD Program (Chiropractic Paediatrics) for South African Chiropractors

The Online Paediatric CPD Program offers continuing education units for South African Chiropractors. As of January 2018, this program has been formally accredited in South Africa to provide 3 CPD hours per module, (as the maximum accreditation for an online activity is currently only 3). This has been a significant reduction from the previously 84 hours that the program has been accredited with since 2013. We have followed this up and had discussions with the AHPCSA and they have replied with… “The relevant professional board will now examine CPD applications such as yours with a view to recommending to full Council to revise the current CPD Guidelines to increase the CEUs, but full Council will only consider the matter in September 2018. In the event that any CEU allocation is increased, this will apply retroactively to your CPD online course approval”.. So the AHPCSA is reviewing the 3 CEU ruling with the expectation that the CEU’s will be increased for each module and this will apply retrospectively. If you have any further questions please email us at c4k@netspace.net.au.

The 100% online program now offered to the chiropractic profession within South Africa was created, designed and written by Dr Glenn Maginness B.App.Sc(Chiro) MCSc(Paeds)

Dr Maginness is a 1987 chiropractic graduate from Melbourne, Australia who completed a three year Masters Degree in Chiropractic Paediatrics at R.M.I.T. University in 1998. Dr Maginness has held over 40 of his own paediatric focused seminars throughout Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the U.K. (England and Scotland) over the last fifteen years and has spoken at numerous paediatric focussed seminars around the world (including South Africa) over the last 20 years. He was the keynote speaker at the UCA Spring Conference in London in April 2006, in London in March 2014, at the I.C.A. Paediatrics Conference in Las Vegas in October 2014 and at the CCA conference in San Diego in May 2015.

The online program, utilising cutting edge technology, has been extremely popular throughout the chiropractic profession worldwide with participation from chiropractors residing in 11 different countries including many chiropractors from South Africa.

Entry Requirements

This program is open to all chiropractors and chiropractic students in South Africa, including students and graduates from the University of Johannesburg and Durban University of Technology. This is an ideal platform for students and new graduates to gain valuable knowledge and experience in the field of chiropractic paediatrics. It is also a valuable resource for experienced chiropractors to upskill in this field.

Course Structure

The course is 100% online. You are provided with a username and password, which then gives you access 24/7 from any device where you can access the internet. This includes, i-Pads, laptops, PC’s and Macs. It is possible to successfully complete the six modules in this program within a few weeks, however our experience is that chiropractors continue to refer back to the program again and again, over many months and even years. The cutting edge educational technology providing over 130 videos and numerous interactive e-books are a wealth of ongoing resources for the paediatric/family chiropractor.

On completion

On completion of the program you will receive a certificate stating you have successfully completed postgraduate studies in chiropractic paediatrics. (Please note that completion of the quizzes at the end of each module is NOT a requirement. You may wish to proceed through the program without answering the examination questions. The choice is yours.)

Practical Assessment

As indicated above, clinical assessment in the form of quizzes are available at the end of each module, should you chose to complete them. In order to obtain CPD accreditation through the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPCSA) for this program you will be required to successfully complete these assessment tasks. Once you have achieved a pass grade, you will be issued a certificate stating that you have successfully completed the module. This will satisfy the specific continuing education requirements of AHPCSA.
